L'arc en Ciel

L'Arc~en~Ciel se formó en 1991 en Osaka cuando tetsu buscaba un vocal para su grupo. En cuanto oyó la voz de hyde lo invitó a formar parte de su reciente proyecto, aunque éste al principio se negó, ya que era guitarrista en una banda llamada Jerusalem's Rod y no vocal y sólo estaba sustituyendo momentáneamente al cantante de su banda. pero tetsu logró convencerlo y empezó junto a él, hiro como guitarrista y Pero de batería a conseguir su sueño.

En mayo de ese mismo año, hicieron su primer concierto, Nanba Rockets, y se hicieron muy populares en Osaka. En 1992, hiro decidió abandonar el grupo y tetsu llamó a su amigo de la infancia, ken, quien dejó sus estudios de arquitectura en Nagoya para unirse a la banda. Con el nuevo miembro, la canción Voice es incluida en el cd Omnibus "Gimmick" dándoles la opotunidad de sacar su primer trabajo como indies en noviembre bajo el nombre de Floods of tears. pero otro obstáculo más se interponía y otro de los miembros, pero, dejaba el grupo tras un concierto en el Osaka Music Hall. Para reemplazarle tetsu llama a sakura a Tokyo, que decide unirse y así dar forma al L'Arc~en~Ciel que triunfaría.

En 1993 comienzan a grabar su primer álbum, DUNE junto a la discográfica Danger Crue Records para luego, sólo un año después de su debut, unirse a Sony Music Japan con la que realizan su salto a la fama. Su major debut es con la canción Blurry Eyes, escogida para el anime DNA² y con la que hoy día siguen haciendo vibrar al público en los conciertos. En los siguientes años la banda sigue creciendo y haciéndose más famosa, hasta llegar a sacar su cuarto trabajo, True, en 1997. Esta año es el peor recordado para Laruku, ya que sakura fue arrestado por posesión ilegal de drogas y tuvo que marcharse de la banda. La carrera de L'Arc~en~Ciel se vio un poco dañada, parando alrededor de seis meses su actividad y cancelando la salida del que sería su siguiente single the Fourth Avenue Cafe, track que únicamente se incluyó en el album y en cuato capítulos del anime Rurouni Kenshin. Tras meses sin noticias de ellos, reaparecen con un nuevo baterista yukihiro. a finales de año en el medio musical con el single Niji (que significa "arcoiris" en japonés, como el nombre de la banda)a la vez que dan un primer concierto en el Tokyo Dome llamado "Reincarnation" y vendiendo las entradas en tan sólo 4 minutos.

La carrera de Laruku llega a su punto álgido en el año 1999, con el lanzamiento de dos albums el mismo día, ark y ray, y simultáneamente en varios países de Asia. Además de la gran aceptación de todos sus singles, incluyendo en ellos su éxito HONEY con el que superaron el millón de ventas.

Tras un descanso de tres años en los que se editan varias compilaciones de éxitos y los miembros se dedican a sus trabajos en solitario. Durante esos años hyde protagoniza junto a Gackt una pelicula llamada Moon Child, tambien conocida en japon como Kagen no tsuke, una pelicula en la cual hyde es un vampiro. L'arc-en-ciel vuelve en el 2003, sorprendiendo a todos sus fans con siete espectaculares conciertos en Shibuya y con el anuncio de su nuevo álbum, SMILE, donde incluyen su single READY STEADY GO, opening de la serie Fullmetal Alchemist. Fue esta canción aparte de su ya avanzada famas las que hicieron posible su primer concierto en Estados Unidos, el LIVE IN U.S.A. Más tarde y tras su album AWAKE editan su último single hasta el momento, Link, canción que se incluye la película de Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa.

En Febrero del 2006 se celebraron los 15 años de trayectoria de la banda. L'Arc~en~Ciel sigue en pie y con más fuerza que nunca, en su última entrevista otorgada en ASIALIVE SPECIAL 2005 transmitida por Tv Asahi lo demostraron y con muchas ganas de seguir juntos y sobrepasar los 20 años de trayectoria y de ser reconocidos no solo en Japón, si no que en el mundo entero. Con motivo de este aniversario, el grupo dio una gira a finales del 2005 actuando en Seúl, Shanghai y finalmente regresando a Tokyo. Además, en agosto de 2006 lanzan una re-edición de sus primeros 15 singles (desde Blurry Eyes hasta forbidden lover) y el inédito the Fourth Avenue Cafe, llenando el ranking de ventas con todos sus trabajos.

Además de una fructífera carrera como L'Arc~en~Ciel, cada miembro mantiene a la vez un proyecto en solitario, para las cuales se dan un tiempo como grupo, sin que estas intervengan en lo que han trabajado durante años. hyde ya tiene 3 trabajos en solitario sacando un nuevo single season's call y luego su reciente album Faith, mientras que el bajista y líder se hace llamar Tetsu69 con también un album en el mercado y colaboraciones como la banda Creature Creature; el guitarrista ken formó un grupo llamado Sons of All Pussys junto con el ex-batería sakura, y en 2006 inició su carrera en solitario; por último, yukihiro sigue trabajando con su grupo bajo el nombre Acid Android con varios trabajos y giras que también incluyen China.
